Park Square Theatre showcases Twin Cities top talent in new plays and musicals direct from Broadway, Off-Broadway and other world-class stages in two intimate venues. Park Square’s Proscenium stage seats 348 in the area’s most comfortable seats. The newest addition to the Twin Cities theatre scene is Park Square’s new Andy Boss Thrust Stage, which puts you steps away from the actors in 200 seats that embrace the stage on three sides. Park Square is a local leader in premieres and “second productions”; more than 70% of our work over is new to this market. The 2014-2015 Season is unprecedented for us: nearly every (non-Shakespeare) show on our two stages is an area, regional, or world premiere. Our expanded facility offers the chance to expand our capacity to serve students from 22,000 to 33,000+.
For Shakespeare in American Communities, Park Square Theatre will present student matinees of A Midsummer Night’s Dream on the Proscenium stage (Nov-Dec 2014) and Romeo & Juliet (Feb-May 2015) on the Boss Stage. Related educational activities, including hands-on workshops, discussions, study guides and Build a Moment™ interactive demonstrations with the cast and designers will be offered to schools around the region. We anticipate reaching 270 schools from Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
