Shakespeare in American Communities Phase Four (2006-2007)
Phase Four (2006–2007) performances began in June 2006 and continued through May 2007.
This phase of the initiative continued to bring live theater of the highest caliber to small and mid-size communities across the United States. From Alamo, Tennessee to Alamo, California; from Bloomington, Indiana, to Bloomington, Wisconsin; from Clarksburg, Tennessee, to Clarksburg, Massachusetts; and from Dallas, Texas, to Dallas, Pennsylvania the Endowment helped to reinvigorate theater presentation and strengthen the arts in communities across the country.
Shakespeare in American Communities: Shakespeare for a New Generation gives high-school and middle-school students in underserved schools and communities throughout the United States exposure to high quality, professional productions of Shakespeare's plays. Participating theater companies received matching grants to help support performances and educational activities in their communities, states, or regions for students from at least ten schools.
